Our expert and empathetic care team at The Maples strives to help young women address their mental health needs in a safe and nurturing environment. Our psychiatrists in Fort Worth are a key element of our residential program, providing medication management and evidence-based therapies to help patients on their journey to wellness.
What a Psychiatrist Treats
Our psychiatrists in Fort Worth specialize in helping teens ages 13 through 18 dealing with eating disorders and mild to moderate substance abuse, including vaping, marijuana, and alcohol abuse. We offer a family-centered program, SMART Recovery, and 12-step options to ensure your teen gets constant support.
If your loved one is struggling with an eating disorder or mental health challenges, our compassionate care team is here to help. Your family does not have to manage this time on your own.
Programs at Our Location
Our Crowley facility can serve up to 24 patients and offers a comfortable, non-traditional, homelike environment. A psychiatrist, board-certified in child and adolescent psychiatry and specializing in treating eating disorders, meets with our Fort Worth patients weekly. Psychiatric services include:
Medication Management
Our psychiatrists will partner with your teen to determine whether medication could help address their mental health concerns. If so, we will prescribe, monitor, and adjust prescriptions as needed. Medication management is a collaborative approach to ensure medication is effective while minimizing potential side effects and optimizing a patient’s overall well-being.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
The goal of DBT is to help regulate emotions and relationships using physical and cognitive skills. This therapy is often helpful for patients with depression and anxiety who are highly reactive, overwhelmed with emotions, and have a difficult time returning to a calm state.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT focuses on changing thought patterns and behaviors. Our psychiatrists employ several strategies, including recognizing distortions in thinking, using problem-solving skills, and learning to calm the mind and body. This form of therapy is often helpful for treating depression, anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders, and severe mental disorders.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
During this therapy, our Fort Worth psychiatrist guides patients to move their eyes in a specific way to help process traumatic memories. The goal of EMDR therapy is to help patients heal from trauma or other distressing experiences that may have caused them to turn to unhealthy behaviors.
Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)
TBRI focuses on meeting the needs of youth in an attachment-based, trauma-informed manner. This process prioritizes physical and attachment needs while disarming fear-based behaviors. It is particularly helpful for those who have experienced early harm, adversity, toxic stress, or trauma, and may benefit from a trusting relationship with a safe adult.
